My Octopus Teacher
DocumentaryDrama85 min
After years of daily swims in the freezing waters off South Africa, filmmaker Craig Foster encounters a young octopus in a kelp forest and begins returning to her den day after day. As he follows her through shifting reefs and nearby predators, the film watches a cautious relationship take shape between a human observer and a wild animal. Foster’s close-up footage stays with the octopus’s routines, defenses, and curiosity, while the surrounding Cape waters emerge as their own world of rock, seaweed, and constant movement.
