Oslo, August 31st

Drama95 min

Granted a day’s leave from rehab, Anders Danielsen Lie is Anders, a 34-year-old recovering addict who returns to Oslo for a job interview and spends the day drifting through the city instead. He reconnects with old friends, slips into apartments and cafés he once knew well, and finds that ordinary conversations keep circling back to the life he left behind. Malin Crépin appears in one of the day’s brief encounters, part of a chain of meetings that leaves Anders measuring other people’s settled routines against his own uncertainty. Over the course of one August day, Oslo feels both intimately familiar and newly out of reach.
