A Dublin vacuum repairman who spends his nights busking hopes his songs might lead somewhere beyond the street corner. Glen Hansard is the restless musician, carrying unfinished work and a stalled ambition when he meets a Czech immigrant who sells flowers and quietly writes songs of her own. Markéta Irglová’s young pianist becomes his collaborator as the two begin writing, rehearsing, and recording together around the city. Their music traces the connection growing between them, with the film staying close to small rooms, street performances, and studio sessions as work, romance, and songwriting start to overlap.
