Former bowling hotshot Roy Munson is living in shabby obscurity after a hustling scam costs him a hand, until he spots a way back: Ishmael, an Amish prodigy with a gift for the lanes and no feel for the wider world. Woody Harrelson's Roy drags Randy Quaid's sheltered bowler onto the tournament circuit, chasing prize money and a second shot at the life he lost. Vanessa Angel threads into the trip as Claudia, while Bill Murray looms over Roy's comeback as swaggering rival Big Ern McCracken. Bowling alleys, roadside stops, and an old grudge drive the story toward a high-stakes showdown.
