ActionAdventureDramaHorrorMysteryWar102 min

As the plague tears through 14th-century England, a young monk joins a hard-edged church emissary and his band of soldiers to investigate rumors of a remote village untouched by disease. Sean Bean's Ulric leads the mission into the countryside, while Eddie Redmayne is the novice pulled along as guide and witness. The church suspects paganism, and whispers point to a woman (Carice van Houten) said to raise the dead. What begins as an inquisition through a ravaged medieval landscape becomes a confrontation with faith, fear, and the violence carried in by the men themselves.
