In a Manhattan monastery, a secret order of devil-worshiping monks stalks New York for victims to sacrifice in ceremonies meant to bring satanic rule into the world. William Beckwith and Christine Moore are among the faces in a large ensemble moving between cloistered corridors and city streets as the monastery’s hidden rites turn violent. The story keeps its focus on the monks’ hunt and the dark purpose behind it, using the contrast between a religious refuge and an occult plot to drive the tension.
