Released from prison yet again, Tonny returns to Copenhagen determined to repair his broken life, but the same criminal world is waiting for him. Mads Mikkelsen is Tonny, a small-time pusher trying to change course as old loyalties, drug money, and his own reputation keep dragging him back. Leif Sylvester turns up as another hard-edged presence in the life Tonny can’t quite leave behind. Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, the film keeps close to its lead, following him through the city’s underworld with a blunt, intimate focus on the routines and pressure of starting over.
