After an assassination attempt at a live demonstration, game designer Allegra Geller goes on the run with a marketing trainee and enters her own virtual reality creation to find out whether it has been damaged. Jennifer Jason Leigh is Allegra, guarded and wholly absorbed in the world she built; Jude Law's Ted Pikul is the uneasy outsider pulled in beside her. As they move deeper into the game, the line between simulation and everyday life keeps slipping. David Cronenberg's film turns virtual reality into something tactile, suspicious, and hard to separate from the bodies plugged into it.
