Budapest Noir
CrimeDramaMysteryRomanceThriller95 min
In 1936 Budapest, as Hungary drifts toward Hitler’s orbit, crime reporter Zsigmond Gordon takes an interest in a murder nobody else wants to investigate: a well-dressed young woman found dead with a Jewish prayer book in her purse. Krisztián Kolovratnik is Gordon, a cynical newspaperman whose digging carries him from seedy streets into brothels, pornographers, Communist circles, and the city’s political upper reaches. As officials and power brokers try to steer him away, the case opens onto a portrait of a capital thick with corruption, fear, and competing loyalties.
