Cat Soup

AnimationAnimeComedyFamilyFantasySci-Fi34 min

Nyatta, an anthropomorphic kitten, heads to the land of the dead and back in an effort to save his sister’s soul. The setup is simple, but the path is anything but: this Japanese animated film turns that rescue into a surreal black comedy, with dream logic, fantasy detours, and unsettling imagery driving the story forward. Directed by Tatsuo Satô, Cat Soup follows Nyatta and his sister through a shifting world where the story’s childlike surface keeps colliding with bizarre, often disturbing turns.
