Andre “Dre” Johnson is a successful ad executive trying to hold onto a clear sense of cultural identity while raising four kids in an affluent, mostly white neighborhood. Anthony Anderson is Dre, a father whose ideas about success, parenting, and belonging keep colliding with everyday family life. At home, Tracee Ellis Ross’s Rainbow brings her own point of view as Dre’s wife and a doctor balancing work, marriage, and their kids’ growing independence. The Johnson household becomes the center of arguments about school, money, marriage, and what it means to stay connected to who they are.
