The Return of Martin Guerre

CrimeDramaMysteryRomance122 min

In summer 1542 in the village of Artigat, Martin Guerre marries Bertrande de Rols, then vanishes after being accused of robbery. Nearly a decade later, a man returns claiming to be Martin, and while the Guerre family accepts him, doubts about his identity begin to spread. Gérard Depardieu and Nathalie Baye lead this 16th-century French story, where a marriage, a household, and a village’s shared memory all rest on whether the returned husband is truly the man he claims to be.
