Allan Gray, a young traveler fascinated by the supernatural, arrives in a small village and senses a sinister force closing in when an old man asks him to protect his two daughters, one already bitten by a vampire. Carl Theodor Dreyer’s film follows Gray as he tries to understand the curse around the family, with Sybille Schmitz among the daughters at the center of the threat.
