Eat Drink Man Woman

ComedyDramaRomance124 min

Widowed master chef Chu shares a home in modern Taipei with his three adult daughters, and the family’s elaborate Sunday dinners say more than their conversations do. Sihung Lung is Chu, a revered chef who can compose banquet-worthy meals but struggles to read the changing lives under his own roof; Wang Yu-wen is the eldest daughter, one of three sisters whose work, romances, and private ambitions begin to unsettle the household. Directed by Ang Lee, the film follows a father and daughters negotiating love, tradition, and independence, with food at the center of nearly every silence, ritual, and shift in the family.
