Genetic engineers Clive and Elsa push past legal and ethical limits when they secretly combine human and animal DNA, creating a fast-growing hybrid they name Dren. Adrien Brody's Clive is the more hesitant half of the pair, while Sarah Polley makes Elsa the driving force behind the experiment. As Dren develops from infant to winged chimera with startling intelligence, the couple’s private breakthrough turns their lab into a sealed-off domestic crisis, with parental attachment, scientific ambition, and control all becoming harder to separate. Delphine Chanéac brings an uncanny physicality to Dren as the creature keeps changing faster than her creators can predict.
