Christopher Reeve is Richard Collier, a young writer whose first-play opening night is interrupted by an elderly woman pressing an antique watch into his hand and pleading, “Come back to me.” Years later, he traces her identity to a celebrated stage actress from 1912 and becomes consumed by the photograph of her younger self. Convinced their lives are connected, Richard turns to self-hypnosis in an attempt to travel back and meet her. Jane Seymour is the actress who draws him across decades, as the story ties together a stage-world romance, a mystery carried forward in time, and one man’s attempt to step outside the present.
