Child 44

CrimeDramaMysteryThriller137 min

In Stalin-era Soviet Russia, a state security officer begins to suspect that a string of murdered boys is not random at all, but the work of a serial killer. The problem is that his government insists such crimes do not exist under its rule, and questioning the official line makes him a target. As he loses status and is pushed out of Moscow, he and his wife are drawn deeper into a case the authorities want buried. With suspicion closing in from every side, Leo has to hunt for a killer while surviving a system that treats denial as doctrine. Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace are folded into a manhunt shaped as much by political terror as by the murders themselves.
