Mardock Scramble: The First Compression

The story

In futuristic Mardock City, Rune Ballot is a down-and-out teen prostitute until Shell, an ambitious casino manager, pulls her into a life of money, protection, and a carefully manufactured past. When Ballot starts searching his history on a computer, trying to understand why he’s done so much for her, Shell retaliates by blowing up her car and trying to burn her alive. Megumi Hayashibara and Norio Wakamoto are among the Japanese voice cast in this cyberpunk anime, where casino polish and back-alley violence sit side by side.
