A River Runs Through It

DramaFamily123 min

In rural Montana, brothers Norman and Paul Maclean grow up under a minister father, spending their best hours fly-fishing the same river. Craig Sheffer is Norman, the quieter brother who leaves for college in the East, while Brad Pitt's Paul stays closer to home, drawn toward gambling, trouble, and a harder kind of freedom. When Norman returns, the brothers find themselves together on the water again, measuring the distance between childhood and adulthood. Directed by Robert Redford, the film keeps its focus on family ties, sibling contrasts, and the rhythms of the landscape around them.
