In 1980s America, Nike’s fledgling basketball division makes a long-shot bet on rookie Michael Jordan, chasing a deal that could change the company and the sport. Matt Damon is the Nike employee pushing the partnership from the inside, while Jordan’s mother (Viola Davis) becomes a central voice in the negotiations over what her son’s future is worth. Ben Affleck directs a behind-the-scenes account of the business gamble, family leverage, and brand-making that led to the Air Jordan line and helped remake the relationship between basketball, celebrity, and commerce.
