A Patch of Blue
DramaRomance105 min
Blind and cut off from the world by the mother who controls her, Selena D’Arcy (Elizabeth Hartman) spends her days in a cramped Los Angeles apartment until a meeting in the park brings Gordon Ralfe into her life. Sidney Poitier is Gordon, a thoughtful office worker who starts teaching Selena how to navigate the city and imagine something beyond her tenement home. Their growing bond runs straight into the brutality of Selena’s household and the racism of Rose-Ann, with Shelley Winters as the mother determined to keep her daughter under her thumb.
