At a crumbling farm near a remote California desert town, an unseen extraterrestrial force begins taking over the minds of local people and animals, using their eyes to watch and their bodies to attack. Paul Birch is among the members of the isolated household at the center of it, with Lorna Thayer and Dona Cole caught as birds turn violent and once-calm animals become dangerous. Shot in black and white, the film stays close to the family’s strained life on the farm while the threat spreads through the surrounding ranch country without ever fully showing itself.
