Elle Fanning is Félicie, an orphan in 1879 France who escapes rural Brittany for Paris with her best friend, Victor (Nat Wolff), an aspiring inventor. She wants one thing: a place at the Paris Opera Ballet School. To get it, Félicie passes herself off as someone else and steps into a world of rigorous training, social class, and fierce competition from dancers who are far more prepared than she is. Around her, Paris is changing fast, with new ideas, new machines, and famous monuments rising in the background as Félicie and Victor chase the futures they’ve imagined for themselves.
