Rise of the Planet of the Apes

ActionAdventureDramaSci-FiThriller105 min

Raised in suburban San Francisco by scientist Will Rodman, Caesar is no ordinary chimp: exposure to an experimental Alzheimer’s treatment has left him far more intelligent than anyone expected. James Franco is Will, whose work is driven by his father’s illness; John Lithgow brings that family strain into the story as Will’s declining dad. When Caesar’s sheltered life gives way to a brutal primate facility, his growing awareness turns into open rebellion. Andy Serkis gives the chimp a watchful, increasingly defiant presence as the film charts the chain of events that upends the balance between humans and apes.
