Heidi
DramaFamilyMusical88 min
Heidi is an orphan whose Aunt Dete leaves her in the mountains with her reclusive paternal grandfather, Adolph Kramer. Shirley Temple is the child at the center of the story, gradually breaking through the old man’s gruff isolation, while Jean Hersholt is the grandfather she draws back toward village life. When Dete returns, Heidi is taken away to Frankfurt and installed as companion to a wealthy family’s wheelchair-bound daughter. The film follows the bond between child and grandfather as that sudden separation sends him down from the mountains to search for her.
