Johnny Truelove is a young California drug dealer who likes to think he’s untouchable until a debt from Jake Mazursky turns a feud into a kidnapping. Emile Hirsch is Johnny, the ringleader of a loose crew of friends and hangers-on who snatch Jake’s 15-year-old brother, Zack (Anton Yelchin), and keep him close while they figure out what to do next. Justin Timberlake’s Frankie is one of the few in the group who treats Zack like more than leverage, even as the situation tightens around them. Drawn from the Nicholas Markowitz case, the film places teen partying, suburban sprawl, and criminal posturing on a collision course.
