Lust for Life

Drama122 min

Vincent van Gogh is a gifted Dutch painter whose work surges with color even as failure, isolation, and worsening mental turmoil close in on him. Kirk Douglas is Van Gogh, following the artist from Holland to France as his brother Theo supports him and his search for recognition. In France, Vincent’s path collides with fellow painter Paul Gauguin, with Anthony Quinn bringing a combustible presence to their uneasy friendship. Drawn from Van Gogh’s life, the film traces the pull between artistic vision and the strain it places on his family, his work, and his sense of self.
