In 1930s Manchuria, a treasure map kicks off a three-way pursuit involving Korean outlaws, the Japanese army, and Chinese and Russian bandits. Song Kang-ho is the Weird, a thief who gets hold of the map; Lee Byung-hun’s Bad is a hitman determined to take it from him, and the Good (Jung Woo-sung) enters the chase as a bounty hunter with his own stake in the hunt. Built as a Korean riff on the western, the film keeps its focus on shifting alliances, double-crosses, and escalating gun battles as every side closes in on the same legendary prize.
