Test pilot Tuck Pendleton volunteers for a miniaturization experiment and winds up accidentally injected into the body of Jack Putter, a jittery supermarket clerk who can barely handle his own anxieties, let alone a tiny man talking to him from the inside. Dennis Quaid is Tuck, running out of oxygen as he tries to guide Martin Short’s Jack through a scramble involving stolen technology, industrial spies, and Tuck’s ex, Lydia (Meg Ryan). The setup turns a secret-lab mishap into a comic chase, jumping from microscopic body-scale set pieces to Jack’s increasingly panicked attempts to keep Tuck alive long enough to get him out.
