After meeting at summer camp, identical 9-year-olds Amanda and Alyssa — one an orphan, the other growing up in a Manhattan mansion — decide to switch places and play matchmaker with the adults in their lives. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen carry the double role as the girls test how long they can pass for each other, while Kirstie Alley and Steve Guttenberg are the two grown-ups at the center of the scheme. The story moves between camp, city wealth, and the orphanage, building its comedy out of mistaken identity, kid plotting, and a romance the girls are determined to engineer.
