Spotlight

CrimeDocumentaryDrama129 min

At the Boston Globe, the Spotlight team starts with reports of abuse by local priests and uncovers a much wider cover-up inside Boston’s Catholic Archdiocese. Michael Keaton heads the paper’s investigative unit, with Mark Ruffalo and Rachel McAdams among the reporters following court records, interviews, and survivor testimony as the story expands beyond a handful of cases. The film stays close to the mechanics of reporting in early-2000s Boston: phone calls, document searches, newsroom debate, and the institutional pressure surrounding allegations that reach into the church, the legal system, and the city itself.
