After an Antarctic expedition is cut short by a storm, sled dog trainer Jerry Shepherd is forced to leave eight dogs behind at the polar base, expecting a quick rescue that never comes. Paul Walker is Jerry, whose bond with the team keeps him searching for a way back even after the mission is called off. Alongside an expedition led by Bruce Greenwood’s Dr. Davis McClaren, the film splits its attention between Jerry’s efforts to mount a return trip and the dogs’ struggle to survive months of ice, isolation, and punishing weather.
