The Wife

Drama100 min

On a trip to Stockholm for the Nobel Prize ceremony, Joan Castleman begins to reckon with the marriage and compromises that have shaped her life beside her famous novelist husband. Glenn Close is Joan, controlled and watchful as public celebrations build around Jonathan Pryce’s Joe, a writer basking in late-career acclaim. Flashbacks to their early years in the late 1950s and 1960s trace the couple’s courtship, ambition, and the private bargains tied to Joe’s success, as the ceremony draws closer and old tensions press to the surface.
