A middle-aged construction worker finds himself pulled into a local production of Romeo and Juliet, only to discover that the rehearsals are brushing up against the conflicts he’s been carrying at home. Keith Kupferer is the father at the center of it, joining the show alongside his estranged teenage daughter, with Katherine Mallen Kupferer in the role. As the play takes shape, family strain, grief, and the awkward intimacy of community theater start folding into one another, with backstage scenes and Shakespearean drama pushing him toward conversations he’s been avoiding.
