The Circus
ComedyMusical94 min
Lyubov Orlova is Marion Dixon, an American circus performer who leaves the United States in the mid-1930s with her young son after racism turns her private life into a public scandal. In the USSR, Marion’s search for safety unfolds amid big-top spectacle, songs, and backstage melodrama as she begins to find refuge, happiness, and love. Sergey Stolyarov and Vladimir Volodin are part of the ensemble around her in this 1936 Soviet musical, which folds a story of exile and belonging into parades, performances, and comic turns.
