Foxcatcher

DocumentaryDramaThriller134 min

Olympic gold medalist Mark Schultz is recruited by wealthy heir John E. du Pont to join Team Foxcatcher, a private wrestling program built around the road to the 1988 Seoul Games. Channing Tatum is Mark, one half of the celebrated Schultz brothers; Steve Carell’s du Pont offers money, prestige and a place at his secluded estate. When Dave (Mark Ruffalo) is brought into the fold, the bond between patron and athletes grows tighter and more strained. Based on true events, Bennett Miller’s film stays close to the routines of elite wrestling while tracing an increasingly uneasy arrangement shaped by ambition, status and control.
