Wadjda

ComedyDrama98 min

Waad Mohammed is Wadjda, a resourceful 10-year-old in Riyadh who becomes fixated on a green bicycle she can’t afford. To raise the rest of the money, she enters her school’s Quran recitation competition, navigating classroom rules, neighborhood routines, and the limits placed around what girls are expected to do. Reem Abdullah is her mother, whose own pressures at home run alongside Wadjda’s plan. Set in Saudi Arabia, the film stays close to a child’s point of view as small decisions about money, family, and independence gather around one very specific goal.
