The American Beauty
Comedy95 min
Marcel (Alfred Adam), a guileless factory worker in France, is tricked into buying an expensive American convertible by a widow determined to keep it out of the hands of her late husband’s secretary and secret lover. What should be a flashy prize quickly becomes a headache: the car gulps gas, snarls Marcel in traffic, lands him in accidents, and even carries him into a car wash with the top down. At home, his wife tries to sell the thing to make ends meet, while the car keeps upsetting whatever ordinary routine Marcel had before. Louis de Funès appears among the bustling supporting cast.
