Aguirre, the Wrath of God

ActionAdventureDramaWar95 min

In the mid-16th century, a Spanish expedition leaves the mountains of Peru for the Amazon River, chasing the legend of El Dorado as the journey grows harsher and the men begin to turn on one another. Klaus Kinski is Don Lope de Aguirre, a conquistador whose ambition and defiance start to overtake the mission, while Gonzalo Pizarro (Alejandro Repullés) leads the company into the rainforest. Werner Herzog follows the descent from imperial campaign to riverbound ordeal, with improvised rafts, dense jungle, and the constant pressure of hunger, exhaustion, and mutiny closing in around the search for gold.
