13 Assassins

ActionAdventureDrama141 min

In 1844, as Japan’s feudal order nears its end, a veteran samurai is asked to stop a sadistic lord before his rise to the shogunate council pushes the country toward war. Koji Yakusho is the strategist who quietly assembles twelve other fighters for the mission, including a younger swordsman portrayed by Takayuki Yamada. Their target is protected by rank as much as by steel, so the plot turns on covert recruitment, strict codes of honor, and a desperate plan to corner a man who seems untouchable.
