From a prison cell, César recounts the accident that shattered his charmed life and left him hiding behind a mask. Eduardo Noriega is César, a wealthy young bachelor whose fixation on Sofía (Penélope Cruz), the woman his best friend wants, sends his life into a spiral. As sessions with a psychiatrist pick apart what happened, the story slips between romance, jealousy, disfigurement, and increasingly unstable questions about dreams, memory, and reality in Alejandro Amenábar’s Spanish mystery.
