Fantastic Planet

AnimationSci-Fi72 min

On the planet Ygam, giant blue Draags treat the tiny Oms — descendants of humans from Terra — as pets, pests, or prey. When a young Om named Terr escapes captivity, he makes contact with a hidden population trying to survive beyond the Draags’ control. Voices from Jennifer Drake and Jean Topart carry the story through a world of outsized alien rituals, hostile wilderness, and periodic hunts. René Laloux’s animation, built around Roland Topor’s surreal designs, fills the screen with strange creatures and distorted scale, while Alain Goraguer’s jazz score adds another layer of unease.
