Dead Alive
ComedyFantasyHorrorSci-FiThriller104 min
Lionel Cosgrove (Timothy Balme) is a young man in South Wellington whose life with his overprotective mother unravels after a Sumatran rat-monkey bite turns her into one of the living dead. While Lionel tries to keep Vera locked in the basement and her condition hidden, the infection spreads through town. Diana Peñalver is Paquita, the woman he’s just begun seeing, and their tentative romance gets tangled up in Lionel’s increasingly impossible cleanup job. Directed by Peter Jackson, this 1992 New Zealand film turns one family disaster into a fast-growing outbreak of reanimation and gore.
