Mr. Turner

Drama150 min

In the last 25 years of his life, British painter J.M.W. Turner (Timothy Spall) moves between acclaim, routine, and a private life he keeps carefully compartmentalized. As his work and reputation grow in 19th-century Britain, the people closest to him see a difficult, eccentric man: his father, his fellow artists, and his devoted housekeeper Hannah Danby, with Dorothy Atkinson giving her a tense, watchful presence. Away from London, Turner begins a secret attachment to a seaside landlady, adding another layer to a life divided between public renown and guarded intimacy.
