Newly divorced teacher Sarah Nolan is trying to re-enter the dating world, with plenty of interference from her eager family and not much faith in online personals. Diane Lane is Sarah, pushed into a run of awkward setups after her sister (Elizabeth Perkins) posts an ad built around one requirement: must love dogs. Among the men who answer is John Cusack’s similarly adrift suitor, who has a borrowed-dog problem of his own. Between blind dates, family pressure, and the lingering sting of divorce, Sarah has to decide whether to keep following everyone else’s advice or start trusting her own instincts.
