A bootlegging run to Mississippi goes sideways when two men are framed for murder and handed life sentences in a 1930s prison. Eddie Murphy is Ray, a fast-talking Harlem hustler; Martin Lawrence’s Claude is the more guarded partner forced to survive beside him as a bad first impression turns into a long, uneasy bond. Inside a racist Southern chain-gang system, they face brutal guards, shifting prison alliances, and decades of confinement while still looking for a way to clear their names. Bernie Mac and Ned Beatty are part of the supporting cast around them.
