After her murder, 14-year-old Susie Salmon watches from a dreamlike heaven as her 1970s family grieves and the man who killed her goes on living nearby. Saoirse Ronan is Susie, suspended between the afterlife and the world she left behind; Mark Wahlberg and Rachel Weisz are her shaken parents, trying to hold their home together as answers slip away. Stanley Tucci's solitary neighbor is the killer Susie can see but cannot confront. Peter Jackson moves between suburban loss and Susie’s otherworldly vantage point, with revenge on one side and her family’s fragile recovery on the other.
