Amity Island is back on edge when Police Chief Martin Brody starts to suspect another great white is circling the beaches. Roy Scheider is Brody, trying to keep tourists, town officials, and his own family safe as disappearances and attacks mount offshore. Murray Hamilton’s Mayor Vaughn is once again more concerned with Amity’s image than Brody’s warnings, even as local teenagers head out on the water for a sailing event. The film returns to the seaside resort’s mix of public panic and official denial, with much of the danger unfolding farther from shore among small boats and open water.
