Julia

Drama48 min per episode

In 1960s Cambridge, Julia Child steps from cookbook author to television host as she works to launch The French Chef. Each episode follows the scramble behind that leap: live cooking segments that can go wrong at any moment, skeptical executives, and a medium that has little idea what to do with a tall, outspoken woman who insists on teaching technique instead of selling perfection. As the show takes shape, Julia’s appetite for the work collides with the limits placed on women in public life and in the workplace. Sarah Lancashire and David Hyde Pierce anchor a portrait of a marriage, a production, and a moment when television begins to change with her.
