Loser
ComedyRomance98 min
Midwestern scholarship student Paul Tannek lands at New York University and gets a rough introduction to city life: indifferent classmates, three hostile roommates, and a campus where he never quite fits. Jason Biggs is Paul, a polite outsider whose luck shifts when he meets Dora, another student scraping by; Mena Suvari gives her the same worn-down, hopeful edge Paul recognizes in himself. The complication is Dora's older boyfriend, Professor Edward Alcott, with Greg Kinnear leaning into the character's smug authority. Amy Heckerling frames the setup around missed connections, cramped apartments, and two students trying to find steadier footing.
